Dunwich Tulip Delivery

Cinnamon Bun

Dunwich Tulip Delivery is the point at which Broccoli Bunch converts the hazardous collection of plants into a completed obligation to Dylan. The delivery gives material value to the flowers gathered during the expedition: seventy-eight specimens become healing supplies and a gold coin, while the exchange also establishes Broccoli as a capable and increasingly reliable adventurer.

Return to Dylan

The delivery takes place at an outpost under a grey sky, with drizzle beginning outside and the formerly cheerful inhabitants moving hurriedly through the worsening weather. Broccoli arrives at Dylan’s clinic carrying a spear, a spade, and a haversack full of flowers. The strange appearance of an adventurer bringing plants into a medical shop underscores the mixed nature of the task: it belongs simultaneously to exploration, gathering, commerce, and survival.

Broccoli summons Dylan by knocking on the window of his section of the shop. The clumsy grenoil alchemist examines the sack with immediate interest after Broccoli reports that the quest is finished. His response is not merely formal acceptance. He opens the sack, moves equipment aside, and empties the flowers onto a counter so that they can be inspected and counted. Even when one plant bites his gloved hands, Dylan continues without flinching, treating the dangerous specimens as professional stock rather than as curiosities.

Counting the Harvest

Dylan counts seventy-eight flowers in total. Some are damaged, which would ordinarily reduce their value, but the size of the delivery exceeds his expectations enough to compensate for that defect. He therefore praises Broccoli’s performance and asks whether the excess should be returned. Broccoli declines, admitting that there would be little practical use for the unwanted plants, and instead proposes trading them for healing potions.

This moment changes the meaning of the quest. The flowers are not simply a checklist completed for a reward; they become resources that can correct a weakness Broccoli discovered in the field. After encountering the Abominations, Broccoli recognizes that traveling without even a healing potion was dangerously unprepared. The delivery thus joins two forms of learning: knowledge of the wilderness gained through risk, and knowledge of adventuring necessities gained through experience.

Payment in Potions and Gold

Dylan calls Broccoli’s lack of supplies foolhardy and explains that a good potion can mean the difference between life and death. He provides two common-quality health potions rated at forty and three trifecta potions rated at twenty. The trifectas are unusual bottles whose separate containers share a fused opening, and Dylan explains that their value lies in affecting several needs at once. For an inexperienced delver, the exchange is also an impromptu lesson in how potion numbers measure practical impact, usually as a flat percentage.

The potion trade is accompanied by a separate monetary reward. Dylan gives Broccoli one gold coin for the flowers, explaining that the payment is also intended to preserve his peace of mind. Broccoli understands the coin as a thousand copper pieces, equivalent to a hundred nights at an inn, and judges it worth the danger of nearly being attacked by a tentacled monster. The reward therefore carries both economic and moral weight: it compensates Broccoli for the quest while acknowledging the risk Dylan had asked an adventurer to undertake.

Storage and Consequences

Broccoli immediately organizes the reward for future use. One trifecta potion is placed in the bandoleer for quick access, while the remaining bottles go into the backpack, protected with cloth wraps. The arrangement reflects a developing adventuring discipline: equipment is no longer merely collected, but assigned according to urgency, accessibility, and the likelihood of breakage.

The encounter also strengthens Dylan’s practical assessment of Broccoli. Dylan’s inspection of the unusually large haul and his remark that Broccoli is good indicate that the delivery has exceeded a routine expectation. Broccoli has not only completed the task but supplied more than anticipated, despite damaged specimens and the hazards surrounding their collection. The resulting relationship is grounded in demonstrated usefulness rather than empty praise.

Place in Broccoli’s Development

The delivery belongs to the broader pattern of Broccoli’s early development as a Cinnamon Bun. That class defines Broccoli as a supportive, friendly, and cleansing presence, and the flower quest extends those qualities into work that benefits another person. Yet the scene is not sentimentalized. The same adventurer who uses Cleaning magic, carries improvised equipment, and seeks to help others must also learn that kindness without preparation can become life-threatening.

The delivery’s importance lies in this practical correction. Broccoli leaves Dylan’s clinic with medicine, money, and a clearer understanding of what survival requires. A quest that began as plant gathering ends as an exchange in which danger is translated into competence. The flowers disappear into Dylan’s laboratory, but their consequences remain with Broccoli: better supplies, greater confidence, and a more mature sense of the cost behind every successful adventure.
